STEWART, Alan 3rd of Appin
(About 1465-About 1562) |
STEWART, Alan 3rd of Appin 1User ID: P242. General Notes: "Alan Stewart, third of Appin, soon after his succession, accompanied, together with his five sons, King James IV. to the disastrous field of Flodden, where that chivalrous benefactor of the Stewarts of Appin was slain. Alan was not long in finding the want of his royal kinsman's friendship and protection, and in experiencing the truth of the saying that the country is hapless whose monarch is a child." Alan married Daughter CAMERON, daughter of Allan MacLidny CAMERON of Lochiel, 12th Chief of Clan Cameron and Mariot MACDONALD.1 (Daughter CAMERON was born about 1475.) Marriage Notes: "Alan Stewart married a daughter of Cameron of Lochiel, by whom he had five sons, all of whom accompanied their father to the field of Flodden." |
