John married Isabel OGILVY, daughter of Sir Gilbert OGILVY of Powrie, fiar of that Ilk and Sibylla DRUMMOND.1 (Isabel OGILVY was born about 1581.)

The second Sir John Seton of Barns was thrice married : -

First, to Isabella, daughter of Ogilvy of Powrie, by whom he had one son and three daughters :-

1 Alexander, who married a daughter of ' ane noble Irish family of Ophual' (O'Farral), but died without succession.

2. Isabel, married to the Laird of Barfoord.

3. Margaret, married to the Tutor of Duffus, in Moray.

4. Lilias, married to Sir James Ramsay of Benhame (Benholm), Kincardineshire.

Sir John Seton's first wife appears in a caption in November 1617 against the Laird of Cowdenknowes as 'Dame Isobell Ogilbie, Lady Kintale, with consent of her husband, Sir Johnne Seatoun, Knight.' "

John next married Anne FLEMING 'Dowager of Kilsyth', daughter of John FLEMING 1st Earl of Wigtown, 6th Lord Fleming, and Lilias GRAHAM, by 18 September 1618.2 3 (Anne FLEMING 'Dowager of Kilsyth' was born about 1588 and died in July 1625 1 2 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Sir John Seton's second wife, by whom he had no issue, was Lady Anne Fleming, ' Dowager of Kilsyth,' and second daughter of John, sixth Lord Fleming, whose death is thus recorded in Boyd of Trochrig's Obituary, MS. in the library of the University of Glasgow : 'At the same time [July 1625], dyed at Edinburgh the Lady Kilsyth, younger ; since her husband's death, married to Sir John Seton of Barnes : a virtuous lady, fearing God; the worthy daughter of her excellent mother, the Lady Fleming.' Her 'Latter Will' was confirmed 17th June 1626.' "
