  General Notes:

George was recorded as an ironstone miner in 1881.

The census of 1891 recorded George and Agnes Gartshore and their three children living at 1 Coltston in Airdrie. Christina Walker, George's mother in law, aged 62 years, also lived in the household. Her occupation was noted as handloom weaver. George himself was recorded as a coal miner: George Gartshore 28 years, Agnes Gartshore 26 years, Christina Gartshore 4 years, William Gartshore 3 years, Annie Gartshore 1 year, Christina Walker 62 years.

In 1901 George and Agnes Gartshore were living at 3 Coltston Row in the parish of New Monkland Lanarkshire with their eight children. Their daughter Margaret was not listed.

In 1905 George Gartshore was recorded as a coal miner in his daughter Christina's marriage certificate.

George was recorded as a retired coal miner in 1923.

George Gartshore was recorded as a coal miner (deceased) in the death certificate of his son William in 1961. 3 7 8 9 10


George married Agnes WALKER (DNA Linked), daughter of Robert WALKER Handloom Weaver, DNA Linked and Christian BROWN (DNA Linked), on 18 July 1884 in Coltston, New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 2 (Agnes WALKER (DNA Linked) was born on 15 September 1864 in Airdrie, New Monkland parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland 2 8 13 14 and died on 25 January 1948 in Airdrie, Lanarkshire, Scotland 3.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the forms of the Reformed Presbyterian Church, Peter Carmichael officiating. Richard Gartshore and Mary Walker were witnesses.

George Gartshore was 21 years old, single and an iron miner. He lived at Waddell's Place Airdrie.

Agnes Walker was 19 years old, of Coltson, and was single. She was a handloom weaver. Her father was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 19 July 1884 in New Monkland parish. 2
