  General Notes:

The 1851 census for New Monkland recorded Mary Ann Quin living with her family at 28 Bairds Square Rawyards. Mary was recorded as 50 years of age. She had been born in Ireland.

In her death certificate of 1869 Mary Ann Queen was recorded as the widow of William Queen coal miner. Her recorded age at death was 70 years. Her parents were deceased. ²

The cause of Mary Ann's death was not certified.

Thomas Queen, son of the deceased who was present, gave notice of her death before the registrar, Alexanda [sic] Waddel, at Glasgow on December 11 1869 and made his X mark.

Mary married William QUINN, son of John QUIN and Peggy ROURKE. (William QUINN was born in 1799 in Ireland ^{2 6} and died 12 February 1864 at 4.00 pm in Whiterigg, New Monkland Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland ⁴.). The cause of his death was miner's asthma over 8 months.³
