"Sir Alexander Bruce of Airth, was the eldest son of his father's first marriage and had a charter for the lands of Airth as heir to him on 1 July 1547. He m. Janet, daughter of Alexander, 5th Lord Livingstone, (she d. on 4 October 1599), with whom he had Sasine for the lands of Bothkennar Grange on 29 April 1552, and d. on 16 March 1600."
