"7. Mariota (Wardlaw), married first before 23 August 1534, to James Scrymgeour of Dudhope, Constable of Dundee. She survived her husband, who died in February 1543-4, and was afterwards married to Sir Alexander Hepburn of Whitsome, son of Sir Alexander Hepburn and Isabel Wardlaw. She is referred to by John Wardlaw of Torrie and Elizabeth Beaton, her father and mother, as 'our well beloved daughter' in October I 556, when she is designed Dame Marion Wardlaw, Lady Dudhope.' "

Mariota next married Sir Alexander HEPBURN of Whitsome, son of Sir Alexander HEPBURN and Isobel WARDLAW Lady Durie and Lady of Riccarton, in 1549. (Sir Alexander HEPBURN of Whitsome was born about 1495 and died before 17 December 1551 ¹.)

"He (Alexander Hepburn) married lastly, apparently between April and December 1549, Dame Marioun Wardlaw, Lady Dudhope. She was relict of James Scrimgeour of Dudhope, Constable of Dundee. She survived Sir Alexander, who died ante 17 December 1551."
