Janet married William ELPHINSTONE Sheriff of Orkney, son of Alexander ELPHINSTONE 2nd Lord Elphinstone and Catherine ERSKINE, on 15 April 1592.1 (William ELPHINSTONE Sheriff of Orkney was born on 26 September 1544 2 and died on 26 July 1602 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

"William (Elphinstone), a twin with the foregoing (Michael), witnessed a contract in 1568, was Sheriff-depute of Orkney in 1576. He had a charter, 7 April 1589, of the lands of Trosnes in Orkney. He married Janet, daughter of James Henderson of Fordell, with issue. He was the ancestor of the Elphinstones of Calderhall, one of whom ultimately married Jessie Bruce, the heiress of Airth, and purchased the barony of Elphinstone. William Elphinstone died 26 July 1602, and the following year his widow married Thomas Livingstone of Hayning."

Janet next married Alexander LIVINGSTONE fiar of Haining 29 October 1603(contract).1 (Alexander LIVINGSTONE fiar of Haining was born about 1564.)

"Janet Henderson m. [....] secondly, to Alexander Livingstone, fiar of Haining, son and heir of Thomas Livingstone of Haning[sic](c/m at Stirling on 29 October 1603), by whom she had no apparent issue."
