HEPBURN, Daughter 1

  • Born: About 1517
  • Marriage (1): HUME, Patrick 3rd of Polwarth 1

   User ID: N783.

Daughter married Patrick HUME 3rd of Polwarth, son of Alexander HUME 2nd of Polwarth and Margaret CRICHTON.1 (Patrick HUME 3rd of Polwarth was born about 1502 and died by March 1579.)

  Marriage Notes:

"Patrick Hume had a charter of half of the lands of Kimmerghame 20 October 1532, and on September 1536 n a charter of confirmation to himself and his wife of the lands of Birgameschelis, Haitschaw, and Belschele, in the county of Berwick. He died between December 1577 and March 1579. By his wife, Elizabeth Hepburn, a daughter of Sir Patrick Hepburn of Waughton, he had issue"

from Scots Peerage (vol 6)

Note:

Sir Patrick Hepburn of Waughton and his wife Helen Hepburn did have a daughter named Elizabeth, but available sources are generally agreed that she married George Ramsay of Dalhousie, the only exception to this being Histories of Noble British Families (Part VI) by Henry Drummond (1844).

Sir Patrick is said to have had eleven children, so it is possible that the forename given above is wrong, and that another of his daughters married Patrick Hume.

It is also possible that Patrick Hume's wife was named Elizabeth, but was not of the family cited.
