Lord John MacDonald was the second to hold the title. He was the 12th chief of the clan. He was clan chief from 1721 until 1754. ⁴

John married Margaret MACKENZIE, daughter of Colin MACKENZIE of Hilton and Unknown. (Margaret MACKENZIE was born about 1680.)

John next married Helen GORDON, daughter of John GORDON of Glenbucket, Jacobite 1715 and 1745 and Jean FORBES, in 1727-1728.¹ (Helen GORDON was born about 1705.)
