User ID: X613. General Notes: "Hay, The Rev William, Minister of Rothiemay Married twice, but the name of his first wife is unknown, though he had two sons and two daughters by her. His second wife, whom he married on 7 May 1700 was Ann, daughter of William Grant of Crichie, He was described at one point as 'a scandalous drunkard.' He died in January 1718." William married Unnamed WIFE.1 (Unnamed WIFE was born about 1662 and died before 7 May 1700.) Marriage Notes: "William Hay, educated at Univ. of Edinburgh; M.A. (11th Aug. 1676); ord. (assistant) before 9th July 1685 inst. as min. Dec. 1688; dep. 18th April 1716 for complicity in the Jacobite Rising; died Jan. 1718. He marr. (1) a lady whosename has not been recorded, and had issue - John; James; Elizabeth; Anna marr. Patrick Gordon of Badrow (now Binhall) in Cairney): (2) 7th May 1700, Ann, daugh. of William Grant of Creichie."
