Isobel married Reverend Dr John ROSE 4th of Insch and Flinders, Minister of Foveran, son of Reverend Mr Alexander ROSE 3rd of Insch, Minister at Insch, Kinairney, then Monymusk parish and Anna FORBES, in 1669.1 2 (Reverend Dr John ROSE 4th of Insch and Flinders, Minister of Foveran was born about 1640 and died on or after 1 February 1690 1 2.)

He marr. 1669, Isobel, daugh. of John Udny of that ilk, and had issue: Alexander of Lethenty, Bishop of Edinburgh (??) ; John ; a daugh. (marr. Note:

Alexander Rose, Bishop of Edinburgh, was the brother, not the son of John Rose.




"Rev. John Ross or Rose, son of Rev. Alexander Ross or Rose, minister of Monymusk, and a descendant of the Roses of Kilravock, was admitted (to Foveran parish) in March, 1667. He had the degree of D.D. conferred on
him in 1684. He married Isobel, daughter of John Udny of Udny, and they had a family of at least two sons - Alexander, afterwards proprietor of Lethenty, and John - and a daughter, who married Rev. James Lorimer, minister of Kelso. In 1680, he succeeded his father in the patrimonial properties of Insch, Flinders, Boddom, etc. He died after 1st February, 1690."
