In the 1901 census for Haddington was recorded a woman called Elizabeth Haimes, a housewife, aged 42 years, and born in "St Barth Devonshire", who was a patient in the Haddington District Lunatic Asylum.

Elizabeth Haimes died in October 1913 at the recorded age of 71 years. Her death certificate recorded her as the widow of Richard Haimes, but it gave no details at all of her parents. 2 4 5

  Medical Notes:

H.H.Robarts MD certified the cause of death.

Jean Sinclair, Superintendent of the Asylum, who had been present where Elizabeth died, gave notice of her death before the registrar at Haddington on 20 October 1913.


Elizabeth married Richard HAIMES Mason, son of George HAIMES Hairdresser, DNA Linked and Helen TAIT (DNA Linked), on 16 June 1872 in St Pancras Church, Euston Road, London, England.1 (Richard HAIMES Mason was born in 1841 in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland 6 and died before 25 May 1891 in Bermuda 7.)
