Marie married Reverend Mr David LYELL of Balhall, Minister of Montrose parish, son of Walter LYELL of Balhall and Margaret HAMILTON of Borland, after 17 November 1658.1 (Reverend Mr David LYELL of Balhall, Minister of Montrose parish was born in 1634 1 and died in March 1696.)

"David Lyell. born 1634, son of Walter L. of Balhall, hereditary town clerk of Montrose, and Margaret Hamilton of Borland ; educated at King's College, Aberdeen; M.A. (1654) ; licen. by Presb. of Brechin 10th.July 1656; ord. to Banchory-Devenick before 18th Oct. 1658; trans. to Third Charge Aberdeen before 1666; trans. & adm. before 3rd April 1673; elected to Trinity Parish Edinburgh, 18th Dec. 1678;, but did not accept; died March 1696. He had 'a thundering way of preaching'. He left £100 to the poor.
