The 1901 census for Aberdeen Rosemount recorded James Gill living at 28 Bonnymuir Place with his daughter, Mary Ann, and her family. James was recorded as born in Forgue, Aberdeenshire and was aged 70 years. By occupation he was a retired warehouseman.

James married Mary CHRISTIE on 12 July 1861 in Belhelvie parish, Aberdeenshire, Scotland. (Mary CHRISTIE was born about 1835.)
