Mary married Sir Alexander HAMILTON 7th then 1st Baronet of Haggs, son of Alexander HAMILTON 6th of Haggs and Jean MAXWELL 'of Newark', on 26 December 1654 in Currie parish, Midlothian, Scotland.^{1 2 3} (Sir Alexander HAMILTON 7th then 1st Baronet of Haggs was born about 1632 and died in October 1699.)

"(231) Sir Alexander Hamilton, Baronet of Haggs, died October 1699. He was created a Baronet 11th February 1669-70. He married, first, Mary, daughter of Murray of Babberton. Her Will recorded 27th October 1666 (Hamilton and Campsie). By her he had two daughters."

Mary's father, Sir James Murray of Kilbaberton (d.1634), was an architect who designed and built Baberton House. He was Overseer of the King's Works and Master of Works in Scotland who worked on significant projects, including on Linlithgow Palace and the Palace of Holyrood.
