  • Marriage (1): HAMILTON, John 3rd of Cambuskeith 1

   User ID: P133.

Marion married John HAMILTON 3rd of Cambuskeith, son of James HAMILTON 2nd of Cambuskeith and Marjory HAMILTON 'of Preston'.1 (John HAMILTON 3rd of Cambuskeith was born about 1420 and died by 1489 1.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John Hamilton of Cambuskeith, who married Marion, daughter of Sir John Maxwell of Calderwood,"

from Heraldry of the Hamiltons

Note:

Only Mariota and Elizabeth are noted in
Memoirs of the Maxwells of Pollok as daughters of this Sir John Maxwell. If Marion were the daughter of a father of that name then the chronology suggests it was this man, but it may be that his wife, Margaret Borthwick, was not her mother.

According to the same source Sir John had a sister named Marion, daughter of Robert Maxwell of Calderwood, who married George Stewart, heir of James Stewart, laird of Kilbride. If Marion was widowed early, or if the marriage did not take place, then it is possible it was that Marion who married John Hamilton.
