Marriage Notes: "The Earl of Annandale and Hartfell (James Johnstone) married (contract dated 29 May 1645) Henrietta Douglas, eldest daughter (by his second wife, Mary Gordon, third daughter of George, first Marquess of Huntly) of William, first Marquess of Douglas. She was very young, only 13, when the marriage took place, as she was born in 1633, and so was but 40 at her death. She survived her husband eleven months, dying on Sunday, 1 June 1673." |
