General Notes: "James (Seton), fourth Earl of Dunfermline, was left by his father and brother in considerable debt, 'but by his virtuous wise carriage he has extricat himselfe of the greatest part of that trouble, and by his good and wise manadgment, not only preserves but improves his estate to his great commendation and honour.' James married Jean GORDON, daughter of Lewis GORDON 3rd Marquess of Huntly and Mary GRANT, on 6 July 1682.1 2 (Jean GORDON was born about 1652 and died after 4 March 1695 3.) Marriage Notes: "He (James Seton) married Jean Gordon, third daughter (See note below) of George, fourth Marquess of Huntly, but by her, who survived him, and was living 4 March 1695, he had no issue." |
