The Stirlings of Keir attributes, mistakenly, three, rather than two, wives to Sir William Stirling, 1st of Keir, the second of whom, named 'Eufame', is said to have married that first Sir William in 1466. ^{1 3}

William next married Margaret CRICHTON, daughter of Sir James CRICHTON 1st of Ruthven, Provost of Edinburgh and Unknown, about May 1481 (charter).¹ (Margaret CRICHTON was born about 1453 and died after 5 June 1509 ¹.)

"...he (Sir William Stirling, 2nd of Keir) m. secondly, in around May 1481, to Margaret, daughter of Sir James Crichton, 1st of Ruthven, when he granted her a charter for the lands of Stouy and Lubnaig in the barony of Keir, (she survived him and m. secondly by 5th June 1509, to John 1st Lord Sempill)"
