Agnes married Sir Hugh CAMPBELL 9th of Loudoun, Sheriff of Ayr, son of Sir Hugh CAMPBELL 8th of Loudoun, Sheriff of Ayr and Isobel WALLACE 'of Craigie', by 26 July 1550.1 (Sir Hugh CAMPBELL 9th of Loudoun, Sheriff of Ayr was born about 1502 2 and died February 1560(1561) 2.)

"He (Sir Hugh Campbell) had charters of Trabeauch and Clonestang in Ayrshire 24 May 1545, of Terrinzean in King's Kyle 10 August 1546, of the Mains of Loudoun to him and Agnes Drummond his wife 26 July 1550, of the lands of Spangok in Renfrewshire on charter dated 1 July 1552 by George Campbell of Dunnowell, of Auchinroglin and Fern in Ayrshire on charter by Mariota Nisbet, wife of John Lockhart. (pages 495-6)

He married, first, Margaret Stewart, second daughter of Matthew, second Earl of Lennox, and had issue ; and secondly, Agnes, daughter of Sir John Drummond of Innerpeffray, s.p. She survived him and was married, secondly (banns proclaimed at Eaglesham Kirk 31 May, 7 and 14 June 1562, dispensation 10 August 1562), as his second wife, to Hugh, third Earl of Eglinton ; and thirdly (contract dated 15 November 1585), to Patrick, third Lord Drummond, and died 21 January 1589-90.." "He (Sir Hugh Campbell) d. in February 1560/61, having married firstly, by 14 October 1530, to Margaret, daughter of Matthew Stewart, 2nd Earl of Lennox, when they had a conjunct charter for the lands of Newmylnes, in the barony of Loudoun surviving her, he married secondly, by 26 July 1550, to Agnes, daughter of Sir John Drummond, 2nd of Innerpeffray, (she survived him and m. secondly, Hugh Montgomery, Earl of Eglinton, by c/m 8 June 1562, and thirdly, to Patrick, 3rd Lord Drummond, by c/m 15 November 1585)."

Agnes next married Hugh MONTGOMERIE Lord Montgomerie, 3rd Earl of Eglinton, son of Hugh MONTGOMERIE Lord Montgomerie, 2nd Earl of Eglinton and Marion SETON, 8 June 1562(contract).1 (Hugh MONTGOMERIE Lord Montgomerie, 3rd Earl of Eglinton was born about 1533 and died on 3 June 1585 1.)


  Marriage Notes:

"Between these two dates, on 31 May, 7 and 14 June, the banns of marriage between the Earl (Hugh Montgomerie) and his second wife were proclaimed in the church of Eaglesham, and on 11 June at Innerpeffray and Monzie. His second wife was Agnes, daughter (by Margaret Stewart, illegitimate daughter of King James IV.) of Sir John Drummond of Innerpeffray, and widow of Sir Hugh Campbell of Loudoun; their contract of marriage was signed at Innerpeffray 8 June 1562, and they were married before 10 August 1562, when they received a dispensation for the fact from Archbishop Hamilton. The date of the marriage is not stated, but they may have been married before the date of the divorce by Knox, a curious conflict between the old and new ecclesiastical authorities. By his second wife, who survived him, .... the Earl had issue .... "

"By his (Hugh Montgomerie's) second wife (Agnes Drummond), who survived him, and was married (contract 15 November 1585), as her third husband, to Patrick, Lord Drummond, dying on 21 January 1589-90, the Earl had issue .... "
