NAMES

The mother of all the children born to John Tait noted here is Simpson or Simson. However the first names vary as follows:

1797 child unnamed mother Elizabeth Simpson in Henmuir
1800 child Helen mother Helen Simpson in Henmuir
1803 child Andrew mother Helen Simpson in Penston
1806 child Graham mother Isabella Simpson at Gladsmuir
1808 child Margaret mother Bell Simpson in Gladsmuir
1810 child William mother Bell Simson in Gladsmuir

The death certificate of 1869 of her daughter Helen or Eleanor recorded Helen's mother as deceased by then. Her mother's full name recorded in the death certificate was Isobel Simpson, but the baptismal record noted her mother's name as Helen Simpson. The baptismal records of Graham and Margaret Tait in Gladsmuir in 1806 and 1808 noted their mother's name as 'Isabella Simpson' and 'Bell Simpson' respectively. Their mother's marriage record noted her name as Isabel.

Isabel married John TAIT Labourer in Henmuir, then in Penston and Gladsmuir on 16 January 1796 in Edinburgh, Scotland. (John TAIT Labourer in Henmuir, then in Penston and Gladsmuir was born about 1770.)
