John married Margaret ERSKINE, daughter of Sir Thomas ERSKINE of Haltoun and Brechin, Secretary of State to King James V and Elizabeth SCRIMGEOUR, before 14 July 1541.1 (Margaret ERSKINE was born about 1529.)


  Marriage Notes:

"He (John Allardice) m. by 14 July 1541, to Margaret, daughter of Sir Thomas Erskine of Brechin, (she survived him and m. secondly, by 13 January 1577, to George Ramsay of Bamff1[1CS7/72/30.]), when, following his resignation, they had a precept from the chancery for infeftment in the lands of Thomastoun and Leys,2[2 GD49/36.] and in which they were infeft on 15 April 1544. He was k. at the battle of Pinkie in September of 1547,3[3See GD49/47. John Allardice, his son, was deemed to be of age by virtue of an act of parliament relating to the heirs of those who may be killed during the battle. See also: Ex. Rolls. Vol. XVIII. P. 431.] and was father of:

1. John Allardice of that Ilk, (see below).

2. Jane Allardice, m. by January 1577, to Andrew Auchinleck of Pettreichie.4[4CS7/72/30.]"
