Elizabeth married John MURE of Rowallan, son of Robert MURE of Rowallan, 'Rud' and Marjory NEWTON.1 2 (John MURE of Rowallan was born about 1452 and died before 1495(dvp) 2.)

  Marriage Notes:

"John, his eldest son, married 'Elizabeth Stewart, daughter to the first Lord Evandale,' says the 'Historie,' "whose mother was daughter to the earle of Crawfurd, called Earle Beardie.' The first Lord Evandale, who was the son of Lord James Stewart, son of Murdoch, duke of Albany, of the royal house of Stewart, died without issue in 1488."

from Mures of Rowallan

"John Mure of Rowallan succeeded, apparently on the resignation of his father, Robert. He married 'Elizabeth Stewart, daughter to the first Lord Evandale, whose mother was daughter to the Earle of Crawfurd, called Earl Beardie.' He had issue"

from History of the County of Ayr

Notes:

1

Both of these extracts clearly are relying on the same source. Since Elizabeth's surname is Stewart, she has been placed as the daughter of Andrew Stewart, the first Lord Avondale.

2

No basis has been found for the reference to her mother as the daughter of Alexander Lindsay, 4th Earl of Crawford, nicknamed 'Beardie'.
