  General Notes:

The 1881 census for Galston recorded Patrick McNamara as head of a household living at 23 Ironwork Square. The household included his wife and their five children. Patrick was a coal miner, born in Ireland, and recorded as aged 46 years. ^{1 2}

Patrick married Catherine McCLUSKEY, daughter of James McCLUSKEY and Agnes DUNCAN, on 16 November 1857 in St Joseph's RC Chapel, Kilmarnock, Ayrshire, Scotland. (Catherine McCLUSKEY was born in 1836 in Ireland ² and died on 29 December 1914 in Galston, Ayrshire, Scotland ³.)

  Marriage Notes:

John McLachlan, RCC, celebrated the marriage according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. Thomas Walsh and Thomas Mason were witnesses.

Patrick McNamara, who made his X mark, resided at Titchfield Street, Galston. He was an unmarried man aged 21 years and worked as a coal miner. His parents were both living.

Catherine McLuskey also made her X mark. She was a seamstress, aged 20 years and unmarried. She lived at Dale Street, Galston. Her father was deceased and her mother alive.

The marriage was registered on 19 November 1857 at Kilmarnock, James Gregory being the signing registrar.
