In his death certificate, Charles was recorded as a grocer married to Martha Tait, at the time of his death, and aged 42 years. His mother was deceased but his father still living. 2

Archibald Cuthbert, who was the brother in law of Charles and had been present where he died, gave notice to the registrar at Edinburgh on 25 September 1895 of the death of Charles. 2
