Alan married Janet FRASER, daughter of Hugh FRASER younger, 3rd of Lovat, Sheriff of Inverness and Janet FENTON.1 (Janet FRASER was born about 1427.)

  Marriage Notes:

"3. Alan (Mackintosh), who lived at Balliherranach in Stratherrick. He was progenitor of the Killachie branch, and died in 1476. By his first wife, Janet, daughter of Hugh, 3rd Lord Lovat, he had Lachlan, whose only son John Roy afterwards acquired an infamous notoriety ; William Mor, father of Donald, Tutor from 1550 to 1562 ; John, married to a daughter of William, Thane of Calder - contract dated 12th May, 1483; Alexander; Hucheon, married to Marion, another daughter of Calder - contract dated 20th August, 1490. By his second wife, a daughter of Forbes of Pitsligo, he had William Og, and Alan Reoch}"

from Memoirs of Clan Mackintosh

"7. Janet (Fraser), who as his first wife married Allan Mackintosh, who lived at Baliherranach, Stratherrick, son of Malcolm Mackintosh, X. of Mackintosh, and progenitor of the Mackintoshes of Kyllachy, with issue. Her husband died in 1476."

from History of the Frasers of Lovat

Note:

Mackenzie, in the above source, lists Janet as the daughter of Hugh Fraser and Margaret Lyon, elsewhere named as Violetta, daughter of Lord Glamis, and as the first wife of Allan Mackintosh. The dates are against this.

Were it so, Janet would not have been born, let alone married, until at least the early part of the second half of the fifteenth century, yet we are told by another source that Alan Mackintosh had children by his second wife, so his second marriage probably took place by about 1470-72. His first marriage was therefore likely before, or well before, 1470.

The numbering and designation of Frasers of Lovat are tricky. It is more likely Janet was a daughter of an earlier Hugh Fraser.

Alan next married Daughter FORBES, daughter of Sir William FORBES of Kinaldie, and of Pitsligo, jure uxoris and Agnes FRASER. (Daughter FORBES was born about 1440.)

  Marriage Notes:

"3. Alan (Mackintosh), who lived at Balliherranach in Stratherrick. He was progenitor of the Killachie branch, and died in 1476 .... By his second wife, a daughter of Forbes of Pitsligo, he had William Og, and Alan Reoch}"

from Memoirs of Clan Mackintosh

Note:

This marriage is not found at all in
House of Forbes. What is mentioned, on page 46, is a Bond of manrent of 1467 between William, 3rd Lord Forbes, and various other Forbes family members, on one part,"And honourable men Duncan McIntosh Chief & Captain of Clanchattain, Hutcheon Ross, barone of Kilravock Lachlan McIntosh and Allan McIntosh, brothers to the sd Duncan, on the tother pairt ."

This agreement obliged the parties "to keep heartilie Friendship and kinrente, love and tenderness and take open upright pairt in all and sundrie their causes and quarrels with the foresd Duncan, Hutcheon, Lachlan & Allan." So it is not farfetched to consider that a daughter of a Pitsligo kinsman of Lord Forbes might have married Allan McIntosh, above-mentioned as a second wife. 3
