  General Notes:

Bernard was the informant of his daughter, Mary's birth before William Richard, registrar, at Holytown on 6 July 1855. The birth certificate recorded that Bernard Short was a master tailor aged 38 years, born in Cloones, County of Leitrim, Ireland. Also, that the couple married at Airdrie in 1854.

In 1866 when his wife, Mary, died, Bernard was recorded as being a tailor. 2


Bernard married Mary BURNS, daughter of John BURNS and Mary BURNS, on 22 January 1854 in Bothwell Parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland.1 (Mary BURNS was born about 1819 in County Fermanagh, Ireland and died 25 August 1866 at 8.00 am in Fells Land, Dundyvan, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was diarrhoea over 4 days.
