The 1881 census for Newcastle on Tyne, in the county of Northumberland, England, recorded Daniel and his family living at 6 Little Blagdon Street. Daniel, the head of the family, was aged 44 years and a slipper maker (Boot). He had been born in Scotland. He had four sons and one daughter.

In the 1899 marriage certificate of his daughter, Catherine, Daniel was recorded as a slipper maker.

Daniel married Letitia IRVINE. (Letitia IRVINE was born about 1844 in Scotland and died before 31 October 1899.)
