  General Notes:

Robert was the baby of the family in 1851. He was 2 years old, and living with his family in Laurieston, in the parish of Govan.

The 1880 US Census for Township 158 And 159, Pembina, Dakota Territory, recorded a James, aged 50 years, and Janet Hamilton, aged 48 years, and a Hugh Hamilton, aged 11 years, living in a household whose head was Robert Tweedlie, aged 29 years. The adults had all been born in Scotland. Hugh was born in Canada but his parents were Scots born. The two men were farmers. Also living there were Henry and Augustine Upham. 2
