John Conlon, his wife and 4 children were recorded by the 1881 census for the parish of Bothwell, Lanarkshire. The lived in Main Street. John Conlon was a coal miner aged 36 years. He had been born in County Cavan, Ireland.
NOTE:
The ages given for John and his wife in the census entry do not seem to be accurate. They married in 1853 which would mean they were about 8 years and 10 years old respectively. ²

John married Margaret NUGENT on 26 November 1853 in St Mary's RC Chapel, Hamilton, Lanarkshire, Scotland.¹ (Margaret NUGENT was born 1835 or earlier in County Longford, Ireland ² and died 1881 or later ².)
