James survived his wife's death in 1940. Her death certificate recorded him as a Life Assurance Agent.


James married Helen McGUNNIGALE, daughter of Michael McGUNNIGALE Iron puddler & steel worker and Mary Ann McGOWAN. (Helen McGUNNIGALE was born about 1883 in Mossend, Lanarkshire, Scotland 1 and died 4 January 1940 at 3.00 am in 85 Clydesdale Street, New Stevenson, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of her death was gastric influenza over 10 days.
