The marriage was celebrated after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest was Thomas O'Halloran RCC. The witnesses were Patrick Carroll of 31 Dixon Street Blantyre, and Robina McCourt of 34 Hall Street Blantyre.

James Carroll was a coal miner, aged 21 years and a bachelor. He lived at 31 Dixon Street Blantyre.

Mary Lynch or McDougall was a widow who performed only home duties. She was 41 years old and lived at 55 Stonefield Road Blantyre.

The marriage was registered on 3 September 1928 at Blantyre, Samuel Currie being the registrar. 1
