In his death certificate of 1908, Adam Hay was recorded as a 'Retired Farmer Widower of Janet Farquharson'. His recorded age at death was 92 years, and his parents, naturally, were deceased.

William Hay, Adam's son, who was present where the death occurred, gave notice of his father's death before the registrar, John Callam, at Glenbuchat on the 8 January 1908.
