The 1851 census for Carluke in Lanarkshire recorded John Queen aged 1 year living with his family at Hunterfield. He had been born in Carluke in Scotland.

In 1861 John Quin was recorded living with his parents and brother in Cleland's Land in Waterloo village in the parish of Cambusnethan. He was 12 years old and was a scholar. He had been born in Carluke in Scotland. 1 2
