The 1851 census for Carluke in Lanarkshire recorded Thomas Queen aged 8 years living with his family at Hunterfield. He had been born in Ireland.

In 1861 Thomas Quin was recorded living with his parents and brother in Cleland's Land in Waterllo village in the parish of Cambusnethan. He was 17 years old and worked as a coal miner. He had been born in Ireland. 1 2
