The 1871 census for Fyvie parish recorded William Strachan, aged 33 years, of Easter Crichie farm, as "Farmer of 379 Acres of which 2501/2 Arable 4 Labourer & 3 Girls". 3


William married Catherine ANDERSON, daughter of John ANDERSON Farmer and Mary GAULD, on 12 November 1868 in Upper Pitglassie, Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.1 (Catherine ANDERSON was born on 21 February 1848 in Auchterless, Aberdeenshire, Scotland 2.)


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place according to the forms of the Established Church of Scotland. Alexander Gray, Minister of Auchterless parish, married the couple. The witnesses were William Taylor and Leslie Durno.

Wm Strachan was a farmer of 31 years of age. He was single and lived at Easter Crichie in Fyvie.

Catherine Anderson lived at Upper Pitglassie, Auchterless. A single woman, she was 20 years old. Her mother was deceased.

The marriage was registered on 14 November 1868 at Auchterless. 1
