The marriage was performed according to the forms of the Church of Scotland. The minister officiating was James Aitken of St Luke's parish, and the witnesses were Thomas Wood and Mary McNiven.

David was a bachelor of 36 years of age, a joiner by trade. Rose Ann was also unmarried, a weaver aged 21 years. Both gave their address as 12 Clay Brae, Glasgow.
