from Scots Peerage (vol 1) 1

David next married Isabella CHILHAM, daughter of Richard CHILHAM of Dover and Matilda Countess of Angus.1 (Isabella CHILHAM was born about 1248, died 18 March 1291(1292) 2 and was buried 24 March 1291(1292) in near the altar of St. Edward, Canterbury, Church, England 2.)

  Marriage Notes:

"David, Earl of Atholl, who styles himself David of Strathbogie, Earl of Atholl, in a charter by him to the monks of Cupar, the date of which is uncertain, but probably after 1260. He was certainly Earl before Christmas 1264, when he was made a knight by King Alexander III., and in 1269 he quarelled with John Comyn, who had begun a castle at Blair to the Earl's prejudice. The matter was settled by King Alexander and his Council. These are almost the only notices of him, in Scottish record, as he married as his second wife, an English heiress, Isabella, one of the heirs of Richard de Chilham of Chilham, in Kent, and Roesia of Dover. This marriage took place some time before June 1266, and the Earl seems to have resided chiefly in England, but even in English records there are few references to him and these chiefly as to feudal casualties on his lands."
