The 1860 US Federal Census for Washington City, District of Columbia (DC), recorded, as 'Free Inhabitants', Thomas Sandeland, his wife Euphimia E. Sandeland, and their two daughters Isabella and Mary Sandeland, living at number 175, 7th Ward Washington City. Isabella was recorded as 5 years old and born in "West-Col", as were various other people in the immediate vicinity. It may simply be "west Columbia". Isabella had started schoo

Isabella Sunderland [sic] was recorded by the 1870 US Census living with her parents and her younger brother and sister in Adams Township, Delaware County. Aged 15 years she was recorded as being at home, that is she did not go out to work. She had been born in Washington DC, and her parents were foreign born. She had attended school within the year.

The 1880 census for Adams Township, Iowa, recorded her as a daughter, Isabella Sandilands, living there with her mother and brother. She is a single woman, aged 25 years, whose occupation is 'at home'. Her birthplace is noted as Washington.

In the 1925 Iowa State Census Isabell Provan was recorded as head of the household, living with her brother, Thomas. She was aged 70 years and was a widow. She owned her home which was valued at 5000 dollars and she carried 4000 dollars insurance on it. She had been 59 years in Iowa. 2 3 4 6


Isabella married John PROVAN. (John PROVAN was born on 7 July 1830 in Scotland 7 and died before 1925.)
