"On 2 April 1456, he (Sir Alexander Ramsay) had a charter of the lands of Dalwolsy and Keringtoun, co. Edinburgh, and Foulden, cp. Berwick, to himself and Alexander, his grandson, and the heirs-male of his body, whom failing, to Robert Ramsay, his second son, whom failing, to George, his third son, whom failing, to William, his fourth son, whom failing, to his own heirs-male of the body, whom failing, to his heirs whatsoever, reserving the terce to his wife, Margaret. This charter was confirmed by James III., 20 March 1473-74."
