"Malcolm (II), earl of Fife, was a son of Duncan, a younger son of Earl Duncan (II) of Fife. The Chronicle of Melrose informs us that Earl Malcolm II 'married the daughter of Llywelyn'. This unnamed Welshwoman has recently been identified as Susanna, daughter of Llywelyn, prince of North Wales and Joanna, an illegitimate daughter of King Henry III. It has also been suggested that this marriage probably took place in the early 1230's. See Kathryn Hurlock, 'The Welsh wife of Malcolm, Earl of Fife (d. 1266): An Alternative Suggestion', Scottish Historical Review, 88 (2009), 352-355"

Note:

Joan or Joanna is generally accepted to have been the illegitimate daughter of King John - King Henry III of England was not born until 1207 - but the dating that follows these partnerships, of Joanna and the Susanna, indicate a later rather than an earlier date. Clearly there is uncertainty around some of these unions and the parentage of the individuals.
