John Leslie was the last who was publicly baptized according to Roman Catholic rites in the church of New Leslie. He was imprisoned with others for resisting the King's authority. He is said to have ruined his estates by his prodigal spending. He sold his estates in 1649 to John Leith of Edingarioch. (Family of Leslie) 1
