   Cause of her death was puerperal fever over 5 days.

  General Notes:

Mary Anne was the first wife of Patrick McGunnigal. A child, James, was born in 1874, and Mary Anne died shortly after the birth. Her death certificate recorded her as being 24 years old at the time of death. 1 2

The cause of death was certified by Hugh Arthur MD.

Patrick McGunnigal, Mary Ann's widower, who had been present where she died, notified the registrar at Holytown, on 23 November 1874, and made his X mark.


Mary married Patrick McGUNNIGAL, son of James McGUNNIGAL (DNA Linked) and Margaret HARKIN (DNA Linked), on 27 November 1873 in Chapelhall, Holytown district, Bothwell parish, Lanarkshire, Scotland. (Patrick McGUNNIGAL was born about 1852 in County Donegal, Ireland and died 15 May 1920 at 4.20 am in 37b Manse Street, Coatbridge, Lanarkshire, Scotland.). The cause of his death was influenza and cardiac failure.


  Marriage Notes:

The marriage took place after banns according to the rites and forms of the Roman Catholic Church. The priest who officiated was Father P. J. O'Gorman PP, and the witnesses were Mathew Cairns and Elizabeth Reynolds.

Patrick McGonigle was a blastfurnace filler, aged 22 years, and a bachelor. His address was simply Chapelhall. Both of his parents were still living.

Maryanne Fox, a worker in a cotton dye works, was also unmarried, and was aged 23 years. She too was of Chapelhall. Her parents, John Fox and Margaret Doyle, were both living.

The marriage was registered on 29 November 1873, at Holytown, William Richard being the signing registrar.

The two witnesses married each other the following year.
